Our Conductor

Robert Osborne was brought up in Great Yarmouth, and attended the Grammar School where he learnt to play the organ.  After graduating in Durham in 1967, he married and went as a teacher to Zambia for ten years.  In Luanshya, he was church organist, conducted The St George's Singers, and directed music for amateur stage shows. Returning to England in 1978, he continued working in education, while music remained a fulfilling hobby.  Since 1980, he has been organist and choirmaster at St Mary's, Copythorne, and also plays regularly at All Saints, Minstead.  He has been the Musical Director of the Woodside Singers since 1989.
